Monaughty Forest Title.

Map of Monaughty Forest WalksThe Heldon Hill has been altered by man throughout the passage of time but now has a number of walks through magnificent trees to some spectacular views of the local area.

The original forest was destroyed by medieval felling and clearing. And was reduced to grazing land by the foundation of the nearby Pluscarden Priory in 1230. The Forestry Commission bought the area in 1920 and the hill became Monaughty Forest, their first planting in Scotland.

There are several walks between 1- 2.1 miles long referred to as the Torrieston Walks which can take beween 40 mins and 1.5 hours. The Forestry Commission provides toilets and diabled access in addition to car parking and a picnic area.
