Map of Culbin Forest walks.Culbin Forest has a unique and fascinating history, shaped by man and nature. It covers a vast area between Nairn to the west and the Findhorn Bay to the east. The area has been occupied since the Bronze Age 3000 - 4000 years ago. Oringinally an area of vast moving sand dunes this was stabilised by the Forestry Commission by tree planting between 1922 and 1960. A mixture of Scots and Corsican pine was used.

The area offers a chance to see a wide variety of plants and animals including roe deer, red squirral, crested tits, badgers, pine martins and wildcats. There are over 500 species of flowering plants and 130 species of lichen. The whole forest is designated a Forest Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

A series of recreational way-marked trails start from the Weyhill car park as shown above. Educational visits can be catered for in the purpose built classroom at the Cloddymoss car park entrance.
